Breaking Bad hasn't even come to an end, and creator Vince Gilligan already has his next project lined up. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gilligan's next series has already been nabbed by CBS—and funnily enough, it's the same project they initially passed on a decade earlier. No one can accuse them of not learning their lesson, at least.
The series is reportedly based off of an early spec script that GIlligan wrote back in 2002, and focuses on " two detectives with very different world views who are teamed up." Working together, they have to grapple with the question of whether or not "cynicism, guile and deception [are] enough to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Michigan, in the face of a complete lack of resources," or if "the exact opposite [is] true -- it takes naïveté, trust and a boatload of resources?" It already sounds great, but, considering it's backed by Gilligan, it may very well be appointment viewing.
Still need convincing? How about this: In addition to being created by Gilligan, House creator David Shore has reportedly signed on as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. He'll reportedly be updating the pilot script, as it's currently over a decade old.
The series—which is currently untitled—will premiere on CBS during the 2014-15 television season.
