Good news for fans of FX's new series The Bridge: According to Deadline, the Diane Kruger- Demian Bichir-starring series has been renewed for a second season that will consist of 13 episodes total and air next summer.

"We’ve been blown away by the compelling performances of Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger and the writing of Meredith Stiehm, Elwood Reid and their team," the president of programming at FX said in a statement today announcing the show's renewed. "[We] are thrilled to be able to continue this journey for another season."

The Bridge premiered earlier this year to favorable reviews, and quickly became the number one new scripted cable series in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. The series is based off of the Danish/Swedish crime series Bron, which has a similar premise—but instead of focusing on two detectives on either side of the Mexican-American border, Bron focuses on a bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden. In both shows, the detectives are investigating a serial killer that is operating on both sides of the border.

The first season of The Bridge will wrap on October 2nd.
