Developer Boon Calhoun has recreated the epic trench run from Star Wars: A New Hope for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. The trench run demo uses a console controller to navigate and the Oculus to look around the cockpit and behind you at R2D2 having a chirping meltdown.

The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset in development from Oculus VR slated for released for PC in 2014 for around $200. In August, Oculus VR announced that John Carmack, co-founder of id Software and creator of Doom, joined the company has its chief technical officer responsible for courting games and developers for the system.

Developers are doing their part, creating their own demos for original games as well as converting older games into Oculus ready games, like Half-life 2.
