No new iPhones.

Microsoft really, really wants you to abandon your Apple products - so much so that the company is now bribing iPhone users to hand in their old devices.

After first announcing a similar trade-in program for tablets a while back - also offering $200 for old iPads - the company has added the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 to the list of devices it’s willing to buy. In exchange for handing in an old Apple phone at Microsoft brick-and-mortar stores, customers will receive a gift card worth $200 or more, ostensibly to go towards buying a new Windows Phone handset or Surface tablet.

Microsoft has specified that the smartphones be “gently used”, come with a power cord, and not be password-protected. The offer is good until Nov. 3 through the company’s Recycle for Rewards program, but the timing suggests it’s a targeted dig aiming for Apple’s newly released iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
