New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority has a new long-term plan, one that does not involve the MetroCard system. According to the New York Times, MTA officials presented this plan to board members yesterday afternoon, unveiling the details of a 20-year, $106 billion initiative to revamp core needs from 2015 to 2034.

Under the new plan, moves will be made to reduce overcrowding on trains, improving customer access to information, post-Hurricane Sandy "stormproofing" and a follow-up to the MetroCard system, which officials cannot extend past 2019.

What new and occasionally frustrating system does the future hold?
