Grand Theft Auto V, in one day, has become the fastest selling game in the series' history. It's projected to become the fastest selling game ever made. In just one day, the juggernaut known as GTA V sold approximately $800 million dollars, a sizable margin over all previously release Grand Theft Auto titles. That being said, GTA V is closing in on the becoming the fastest selling game of all time. That title is currently held by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
The previous mark set by COD, achieved $1 billion dollars in sales in a mere 15 days. That record is almost guaranteed to be broken and potentially shattered as reviews for GTA Vare through the roof and sales are expected to remain relatively stable over the coming weeks.
Strapped with their groundbreaking $260 million dollar production and marketing budget, GTA V is a modern day phenomenon that can't be slowed down. Compared to the blockbusters of 2013, GTA V is ahead of such films as Fast and Furious 6, World War Z, Man of Steel, and the year's highest grossing film, Iron Man 3, by at least $350 million each; and they did that in their first day.
Grand Theft Auto V is available now for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 so unless you want to be the weird guy who doesn't have it, go out and grab yourself a copy.
GTA V online drops in two weeks and looks forward to sinking what's left of your social life.
