Man Who Struck Five Teens in Queens Escapes Charges

On Thursday morning, an SUV jumped a curb in Queens and struck five teenagers. Authorities are now reporting that the driver, 40-year-old Francis-Aung Lu, will not be charged. All five teens survived the accident, but 13-year-old Ashley Kahn sustained the most severe injuries: a broken pelvis and compound fracture in her left leg after being trapped beneath the vehicle. 

City Councilmember Elizabeth Crowley is defending Lu, calling his actions an honest mistake. "He hit the gas instead of the brake.This had everything to do with being an accident." You can watch a video of the accident below.
