If you were asked to identify the best-selling item at Walmart, you probably wouldn't say bananas, would you? If you would, you're smart—and right. According to Business Insider, Walmart won't reveal exactly how many bananas it sells, but if 200 million people shop at the numerous Walmart locations worldwide on a weekly basis, it's presumably a huge number. But why are bananas so popular at Walmart?
Company spokesperson Brooke Buchanan explained the craze to Business Insider. "Customers love bananas because they're an easy, healthy food to pack and eat and very affordable," she said. "Kids also love bananas, and so a lot of customers are probably thinking of their children."
So, in short, they're good, cheap and the kids love them. This makes perfect sense.
