With their new series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. set to premiere next week (and likely to be a success), Marvel is already looking forward and planning their next television scripted venture: And, if this report from The Hollywood Reporter is true, it's going to be AWESOME. According to the site, Marvel's next project is developing a whole TV show with ABC surrounding the badass Agent Peggy Carter herself. If Marvel won't give us a Black Widow movie, this is absolutely the next best thing.

The series would be based on the one-shot short Agent Carter, which features Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter and is set to be released on the upcoming Iron Man 3 Blu-ray. It takes place about a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger, and follows Agent Carter in her career while Captain America is chilling, literally, in a chunk of ice (AKA, suspended animation). It's not clear if Atwell would be reprising her role, or if it would take place after the short—but it's worth nothing that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was based off of the one-shot short Item 47 from The Avengers DVD, so it's very possible an Agent Carter show will happen.

Both ABC and Marvel, of course, declined to comment. DON'T LET US DOWN, GUYS. More badass ladies on TV is never, ever a bad idea.
