Sony and Microsoft have both confirmed that their next-gen systems will automatically download new games and applications that users purchase while away from their machines.

The feature means that gamers can purchase a game or application on either the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 and in their respective low-power modes the consoles will download the content then, return to idle or sleep modes. Finally, an advantage to always-on system. Now we can buy a game while leaving the office and start playing when we get home.

Sony's Shuhei Yoshida tweeted that “When you buy a PS4 game on smartphone, it will wake your PS4 up to start downloading the game. PS4 goes back to sleep after" and with Xbox One's always-on, low power mode Marc Whitten confirmed that this is just another advantage to having an always-on up-to-date mode.
