"From One Second to the Next," is Werner Herzog's latest film—and it's far and away different from his past works, like 2005's "Grizzly Man" and 2006's "Rescue Dawn." Now, the legendary director is tackling an epidemic that kills more than 9 people and injures more than 1,060 a day: texting and driving.

Along with AT&T, Herzog has released the documentary on YouTube—which you can check out above—and will be shown at more than 40,000 high schools. "What AT&T proposed immediately clicked and connected inside of me," Herzog said. "There's a completely new culture out there. I'm not a participant of texting and driving—or texting at all—but I see there's something going on in civilization which is coming with great vehemence at us."

The film takes a look at four accidents. Among the four are the stories of the death of a young boy named Xzavier; and another of Chandler Gerber, who killed three people while reading a text in a van. It's 35-minutes of heartbreaking honesty, that will hopefully make you think twice about glancing at a stupid emoticon text that could wipe away an entire life—including yours.
