The Man of Steel sequel is still two years away, but the search for the next Batman is already over. Last night, Warner Bros announced that director Zack Snyder has tapped Ben Affleck to play the Caped Crusader in Christian Bale's critically acclaimed wake. An exercept from their press release reads: "[Ben's] outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character."
Ben certainly knows a thing or two about the duality of a film career. The same guy who led such epically maligned movies as Daredevil (which, along with playing George Reeves in Hollywoodland, makes Batman his third superhero) and Gigli is also responsible for recent crowd-pleasers like The Town, with a comeback arc that crescendoed with his film Argo winning Best Picture at this year's Academy Awards.
So casting Hollywood's current golden boy is a sure bet, right? Apparently not. The reaction to the casting news on Twitter has been overwhelmingly negative. In fact, we had to hunt for the few positive comments. See for yourself and click through Twitter Reacts To Ben Affleck As The New Batman.
