We never got to see a zombie Lori Grimes in the (rotting!) flesh on The Walking Dead last season, but apparently that was actually the original plan until the very last minute. According to EW, a scene featuring Rick hallucinating his recently deceased wife as a zombie was cut from the tenth episode of the season:
Remember back in episode 10 (“Home”) when Rick had himself a tender moment with a vision of his former wife in a white dress out on a bridge past the prison yard? Well, a new deleted scene shows how the scene was originally shot — and it seems that tender moment actually turned quite terrifying. After making out for a bit — because who doesn’t love making out with hallucinations from time to time — Rick pulls back to see that his beautiful wife is now a significantly less kissable zombie version of his beautiful wife.
Yikes. As interesting as it would have been to see Lori all zombie-fied, Rick was pretty off his rocker last season—we shudder to think what a Shining-esque hallucination featuring Lori all angelic before turning into a flesh-eating zombie might have done to his already unstable mental state.
Luckily for all of us though, the scene still exists on the Internet and the season three DVD, which is set to be released on August 27th.
