Think before you tweet, people. And this goes for you even more if you just recieved a $15 million investment for your startup (cough, Rap Genius).

Yesterday, whoever controls the Rap Genius Twitter account, tweeted back to Spin writer Chris Weingarten, after he posted this tweet:

The Rap Genius explanations for Three 6 Mafia's "Put Cha D. in Her Mouth" are very "informative": http://t.co/ai9a5mkjdl

But, when the Rap Genius account tweeted back, they simply put:

That's right. If you couldn't read it right, or all frozen in disbelief, they seriously tweeted: "I'mma rape you in your mouth cuz."

Like, what in the tweet were they thinking? Sure, it was probably alluding to one of the annotations set for Three 6 Mafia's "Put Cha D. in Her Mouth" on the Rap Genius page, but leave that to the confounds of the website. No need to tweet it out into the Twittersphere. The tweet was deleted soon after, and co-founder Mahbod Moghadam told ValleyWag that the tweet was "a bad thing, obviously," and "we're not down with anything like this."

Rap Genius tweeted out an apology later on that day:

"We're very sorry for an offensive tweet made earlier today. It was out of context, thoughtless and has since been removed."

Then the apology, too, was removed.

Someone put these guys in permanent Twitter Jail already, please.
