Yesterday evening, a woman was crushed after an oak tree fell on her while set sat on a Kissena Park bench in the Flushing section of Queens. The woman, 30-year-old Yingyi Li-Dikov, was six months pregnant. Witness Sam Kim told CBS New York that he and and a friend rushed over to the scene after hearing a loud boom and discovered Li-Dikov "lying face down" with "blood just pouring out of her head."

Kim also said that an EMT who was in the park by chance checked Li-Dikov's pulse, nothing that it was very weak. Li-Dikov was reportedly in critical condition when she was rushed to New York Hospital Queens, where she was later pronounced dead.

NYC Parks Advocates Notes that 12 people have been injured by falling branches or trees in the city this summer. Back in June, a tourist suffered a broken arm courtesy of a falling branch in Central Park.
