It's the 'Story of the Three Apps': one app lets users record video for 6 seconds (too short?), the other lets users record for up to 15 seconds (too long? not long enough?), and now, a third let's you record up to 3600 seconds an hour (just right?)
YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen are hoping you'll choose MixBit, their new app that pits them toe-to-toe against Vine and Instagram. Their bringing along YouTube's editing magic and are letting users cut, slice, and combine videos within the app. Also, you can add an entirely different clip into your project as well, instead of only editing what you have recorded in one session. Videos can last as long as you want, 6 seconds, 15 seconds, 25 or whatever, all the way up to an hour. In other words: you can make your own movie.
Another aspect outside of editing and record time is that MixBit lets users download other users' videos: so if you need a picture of the Eiffel Tower to complete the project you made, you can download video someone else shot and use it.
It's a big step back into video for the founders of YouTube, who sold the company to Google for $1.5 billion. Will they strike gold again?
