Big news for the upcoming Avengers sequel: According to an exclusive report on Marvel's website, James Spader has been cast as the villain Ultron in 2015's highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron.

According to Marvel, the sequel will see the return of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and feature them facing off against "one of their biggest villains," Spader's evil, robotic Ultron. Contrary to what the title suggests, it won't be based off of the 10-issue Avengers limited series comic from this year—writer/director Joss Whedon officially revealed during San Diego Comic-Con last month and the story will be completely original.

Spader's been doing very well for himself lately—in addition to this role, his new, extremely intriguing NBC series The Blacklist is set to premiere next month. He also recently appeared in The Office before it ended this year, and he portrayed W.N. Bilbo in 2012's Lincoln

The Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
