It's upbeat.

It's not surprising that the first trailer for the upcoming fifth season of Glee makes no mention of star Cory Monteith's passing, but it's still a little jarring to watch the vibrant colors and upbeat scenes and not think at least a little about the his tragic death last month. The trailer, titled Once Again, features only one shot of star Lea Michele—in fact, most of it is set in McKinley High School and features newer cast members in addition to longtime stars Matthew Morrison (Mr. Shue) and Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester).

As previously reported, Monteith's character Finn Hudson will be killed off in the season's third episode, though it's not too clear exactly how the show plans to deal with his untimely death. Initially, it was said that the writers planned to pen an episode that dealt with addiction because Monteith passed away due to a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol—but, more recently, reports have stated that the episode will instead be a "celebration" of Finn's (and Monteith's) life, with PSA's aired during the commercial breaks featuring the cast discussing drug/alcohol addiction.

It's also not clear how the show plans to have Michele's character, Rachel Berry, deal with Finn's death, as Michele and Monteith were in a serious relationship at the time of his death.

Glee is set to return on September 29th, and will kick off with two previously planned Beatles-themed episodes. The third episode will deal with Finn's death, then the show will go on a hiatus for a few weeks.
