OK, so the trailer only clocks in at 46 seconds, and it's pretty boring. But hey, it does a good job at giving us the facts about the film! For starters, it was directed by James Franco, and it's an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's 1973 novel Child of God. Also, Tim Blake Nelson's voiceover tells us a little something about main character Lester Ballard (Scott Haze), while Lester himself sort of looks around all menacingly:

None

If you're not familiar with the book, basically Lester there is a necrophiliac, who was shunned from his family and lives in caves, where his only companionship are the decomposing corpses of his victims. In other words, not really an upbeat tale—but a genius one it is. The book depicts Lester's slow descent into complete and utter social isolation, as he goes from a cave-dweller of sorts to full on serial killer. It's a fascinating story that'll be interesting to see in film, especially with Franco helming the thing.

But still—this teaser just won't do. It's premiering at the Venice Film Festival this week, and this was the best they could come up with? C'mon, guys.
