Yesterday Piers Morgan, of CNN's Piers Morgan Live, tweeted at Miley Cyrus to say that she should watch his interview with her dad, country star Billy Ray Cyrus, today. But Cyrus didn't show.

Morgan's tweet suggests that had Cyrus showed up to talk, the host would've asked about his daughter's performance at the VMAs Sunday. But Cyrus didn't show.

No explanation has been offered from Cyrus's people as of yet, but it's not difficult to speculate as to why he didn't show up to discuss his daughter's performance of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and her own song "We Can't Stop." It could've been...

Because he decided he didn't want to get on the air and slut-shame his daughter.

Because he didn't know how to unpack the complicated tangle of cultural appropriation in America with a British TV host.

Because he didn't know what to say—his daughter is an adult and he doesn't have to explain her actions.

Because he realized two older white men on TV talking about what a young woman did or did not do isn't what this situation needs.

Because life is fucking hard.

Because he'd rather have a beer.

All of those seem plausible. If he speaks up about it, we'll let you know.
