Apple Reportedly Developing an Actual TV Set

Can Tim Cook show and prove?

None

According to a report by Quartz, Apple is developing an actual TV set. While many believed the upgrade would come in the form of more shows—partnering with ESPN, Viacom, HBO, Disney, and other networks "to provide content...that would emphasize apps over cable TV"—it seems the company is also working on a television set.

Apple wants to release a full-fledged television set, sources told Quartz, in an effort to control the entire experience of watching TV.

But as Leslie Horn notes for Gizmodo, "An Apple HDTV has been rumored for years, although mostly as the wet dreams of known-terrible-analyst Gene Munster. It's a strange business for Apple; the margins are slim, the product cycles long, it takes up valuable retail space at its Apple Stores."
