Earlier this evening, George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. The six women of the Florida jury also acquitted him of manslaughter. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, shot and killed Martin on Feb. 26, 2012, in Sanford, Fla. He claimed he acted in self-defense. Martin, 17, was unarmed.

Since the trial began three weeks ago, its developments have been closely followed and commented on via Twitter. Tonight has seen an outpouring of sadness and anger on social media. Here is a collection of those tweets from musicians, athletes, writers, activists, and others who have been following the trial.
