No More Kids Meals at Taco Bell

It's a business decision.

Taco Bell has announced plans to do away with its kids meal by next January. According to the beloved chain, the fact that teenagers and people in their 20s account for the greatest portion of their customers motivated the decision. "As we continue our journey of being a better, more relevant Taco Bell, kid's meals and toys simply no longer make sense for us to put resources behind," CEO Greg Creed explained.

Creed says this move will allow them to focus on their core customer base. "What does make sense is concentrating on expanding choices that meet and exceed the diverse needs of consumers of all ages, without losing focus on what makes us great today," he added.

If you consider the numbers, this makes sense. Taco Bell raked in an estimated $7.5 billion in U.S. sales last year; kids meals accounted for just 0.5 percent of them. The move makes Taco Bell the first national chain to abolish its kids meal, though certain items such as the Cheese Roll-Up, Soft Taco, Crunchy Taco and Bean Burrito will remain on the menu.
