It looks like Spike Lee is following in the footsteps of Zach Braff and Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas: For his next feature film project, Lee has taken to Kickstarter in an effort to raise $1.25 million over the next month to ensure the film will eventually see the light of day.

The Kickstarter, which can be viewed here, will close on August 21st. At the time of this post, Lee has raised $15,641 of his $1.25 million goal, with 286 people having donated so far. Rewards for donating range from a special thanks tweet from Lee himself for $5, to getting an opportunity to go to dinner and sit courtside at a Knicks game with Lee himself for $10,000 (this reward is for "all playa-playas," according to Lee).

Not much info is given about the movie in the description, but Lee does say that it will be the "newest, hottest Spike Lee joint" about "human beings who are addicted to blood. Funny, sexy, and bloody (and it's not "Blacula")..."

He also explains that he turned to Kickstarter to raise the money:

None

Spike Lee, why are you capitalizing such random words and phrases?

Lee's next film, a remake of Oldboy, is set to hit theaters this October.
