A Queens native was busted by the NYPD for amassing and selling fireworks despite Mayor Bloomberg's warning. George Lakias had 50 boxes of fireworks ranging from M-80s to "Lazy B****," as well as eight containers of military-grade powder, five pounds of potassium perchlorate and other materials needed to make fireworks in the basement of his Astoria home.

Officers purchased $500 worth of fireworks from Lakias earlier in the week, and being the good salesman that he is, he told them he had even more in his house. The combined value of his fireworks collection is reportedly several thousands of dollars.

Lakias faces several charges, including reckless endangerment, criminal possession of explosives, dealing fireworks and assault of a police officer. According to the NYPD, Lakias' arrest was the 48th pre-4th of July fireworks seizure.
