On Friday afternoon, a United States Postal Service worker was arrested and charged with DUI after crashing his mail truck while on duty in Chicago. Thomas M. Hackney was driving the vehicle on the Near West Side when he crashed it around 5:30 p.m.

By the time police officers arrived, the 40-year-old Hackney had already been transported to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital. Police interviewed him there, and he explained that a vehicle had turned in front of him and forced him to swerve. He said his next memory was waking up in the hospital.

According to a police report, Hackney was unable to remember where he was going and what he was doing at the time of the accident. "I was doing pickups, I think. I think I dropped off mail downtown but I'm not sure; I don't remember," he told officers.

Police noted that he reeked of alcohol and sported the tell-tale, glazed over eyes. After telling police that he  "drank a little bit last night," tests revealed that he had a blood alcohol level of .204, over two times the legal limit.

Hopefully, he made all of his deliveries before ending the week by drunkenly crashing his vehicle. Also, how are you that wasted at work at 5:30 p.m.?
