In a video from PlayStation Access, it was announced that Sony's next-gen console would support free party chat and allow users to add up to a whopping 2,000 users to their friend’s list. Also, player’s current PlayStation accounts and avatars will carry over from the PlayStation 3 and not require a paid PlayStation Plus account.
A few other details were cleared up in the video. Despite the impressive 3D demo features shown at E3, PlayStation will not be focusing on 3D gaming as of yet, they will release the details of its 3D capabilities in the near future.
It's also stated that you will need a paid PlayStation Plus account to play online multiplayer games, but free-to-play games and services such as Netflix, will not require a subscription.
