Around 5:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, a woman in the East Village was robbed of several possessions, including $100,000 cash. Now, the NYPD is turning to the public for help in apprehending her assailants.

According to police, the woman was attacked by two men as she exited her apartment. After briefly following behind her, one of them took her to the ground with a chokehold and they both escaped with her pocketbook. Her cell phone, credit cards and a black and red Bank of America bag containing $100,000 were all taken.

Police say it's a strong possibility that the suspects knew she was carrying that much money on her. They're requesting that anyone with more information about the crime contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), texting tips to 274637 (enter TIP577) or simply visiting the website.
