We're really sorry to be the bearer of bad news here, but the Internet needs to know this. Consider this a signal boost: Nicolas Cage knows about all the memes about him that are floating around the Internet. Our worst nightmares are coming true.

Cage revealed his knowledge during an interview with UK's The Guardian as part of a European press tour for his new film, The Frozen Ground. Note, this is the same press tour in which he revealed that "Waterfalls" by TLC is his "song of choice" (in what? Life?), and that he spent six months "dabbling" in drugs and thinks everyone else should too. In short, lots of interesting tidbits of trivia are coming out during promotion for this movie.

"Oh my god. I just can't keep up with that stuff," Cage told the paper. "The internet has developed this thing about me – and I'm not even a computer guy, you know? I don't know why it is happening. I'm trying not to… lemme say this: I'm now of the mindset that, when in Rome, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em." Oh God,  he knows. "There is a misperception, if you will, in critical response or even in Hollywood, that I can only do exaggerated characters...another misconception about me is that I just do movies for pay cheques, [and] that I'm obsessed with comics. [...] For a while there, it was the three Cs; castles, comic books and cars. I just can't get that stuff off of me."

Basically, he just said that he's just like the rest of us, and has watched the "Nicolas Cage Losing His Shit" video on YouTube too many times at two in the morning because that's when the Internet is at its most interesting. It poses a question that the Internet doesn't face very often: If the subject of your meme discovers that they are a meme, does it invalidate the meme?

We hope not, because these are just too good to stop using.
