Back in May, 29 New Jersey bars were busted during Operation Swill, an initiative which revealed that several establishments were filling premium liqour bottles with dirty water and rubbing alcohol, thus swindling customers. Today, the operator of eight TGI Fridays that were caught in the mix was fined $500,000.

According to Acting Attorney General John Hoffman, this should send a clear message to the Livingston, N.J.-based Briad Group and anyone else who dares to rob customers in a similar fashion. The locations were spread out across East Windsor, West Orange, Piscataway, Old Bridge, Marlboro, Hazlet, Linden and Freehold.

Briad will now have to hire an in-house babysitter to make sure they follow the rules and don't rip customers off. They did it to themselves.
