Yesterday afternoon, a woman was struck by lightning while waiting in the checkout line of a Rouse's Supermarket in Houma. This left behind a charred, foot-wide tile and 33-year-old Lakeisha Brooks suffered burn marks to her left leg and right foot. She was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center for treatment and released. Maybe it was a sign.

The sheriff's office believes that lightning hit the building's roof, then traveled through the sprinkler system and hit a metal plate in the floor. National Weather Service Meteorologist Gavin Phillipsguessed that the strike traveled through the store's electric system before injuring Brooks.

Despite the freak occurrence, the store remained open.
