This is what an amazing collaboration looks like: According to Indiewire, a Guillermo del Toro-directed, Charlie Kaufman-penned adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's classic novel Slaughterhouse Five could be in our future, if one of them would just commit to the project already.

In a new interview that ran in the print edition of the UK's Daily Telegraph, Del Toro explained: "Charlie [Kaufman] and I talked for about an hour-and-a-half and came up with a perfect way of doing the book...I love the idea of the Trafalmadorians [the aliens of 'Slaughterhouse-Five'] -- to be 'unstuck in time,' where everything is happening at the same time. And that's what I want to do. It's just a catch-22. The studio will make it when it's my next movie, but how can I commit to it being my next movie until there's a screenplay? Charlie Kaufman is a very expensive writer!"

A Del Toro-Kaufman collaboration for a Kurt Vonnegut work? That is probably the best idea we've heard all day, so why is this not already on their IMDb pages? Someone, commit now!

Del Toro reportedly added that he will try to "work it out," so we're going to hesitantly get our hopes up about this project now. Don't let us down, guys.
