20th Century FOX is going full steam ahead with the X-Men movie machine. Hugh Jackman's solo vehicleThe Wolverine is due later this month, the whole team will re-assemble for next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past and now it's been revealed that Jeff Wadlow, writer/director of this summer's upcoming Kick-Ass 2, has been tapped to write the screenplay for an X-Force adaptation. Long-time X-film producer Lauren Shuler Donner is attached as well. Reminder: the first X-Men film dropped in 2000. The mutants have this century on lock so far.

For the Marvel unlearned: the X-Force comics are one of many X-Men spin-offs that centers around a separate group of ass-kicking mutants, in particular, the team led by Cable - son of Cyclops and Jean Grey. So what's the big difference between the two teams? Under Cable's hard-eged leadership, X-Force is typically more militant than Charles Xavier's peacefully led X-Men. One of Cable's chief enemies? Fan favorite X-villain and ancient megalomaniac, Apocalypse. This could potentially be very awesome.

All plot details are speculative though; the absolute earliest we'll see this is 2015 so details will be scarce. Which mutants would you like to see in the film? Who would you cast as Cable (Stephen Lang, perhaps)? Let us know in the comments.
