Former Xbox One Chief Attempted to Buy Zynga While Still at Microsoft

How long had the Zynga move been in place?

None

Before Don Mattrick was the very public face of the Xbox One's public relations woes, and far earlier than his appointment as Zynga's new CEO, Mattrick was interested in acquiring Zynga while still at Microsoft.

According to a report filed with Bloomberg, way back in 2010, when Zynga was far healthier than it is now, Mattrick intended to purchase the social gaming company and make it part of Microsofts' Xbox family. The sources at Bloomberg requested to stay anonymous on account of the deal ultimately falling apart.

Mattrick is now the newly minted CEO of Zynga, and has found himself at the helm of a company that has seen massive layoffs, almost %18 of its workforce, and many high level departures this year. It'll be interesting to see how he intends to right this ostensibly sinking ship.
