An ugly incident involving two people who are supposed to represent all that's good about New York City ended in arrest for one of them. Angel Valerio, a five-year veteran of the FDNY, was arrested for jumping an off-duty NYPD officer with three of his friends in Queens last Sunday. The firefighter and his friends reportedly went too hard at a T.G.I. Friday's before stumbling outside and stumbling into the cop.

When Valerio and his friends got into a drunken confrontation with the officer, he identified himself as a law enforcement official and casually walked away. However, the gang chased him down and attacked him, attempting to steal his backpack and handgun. The cop was able to escape before being taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Valerio was charged with assault, attempted robbery and attempted criminal possession of a weapon; he could face up to seven years behind bars if convicted. An FDNY source told the New York Daily News that he will be suspended now that he's been arraigned. His accomplices are still at large.
