Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg Was Supposed to Be on the SFO Plane That Crashed

Dodged a disaster.

Yesterday, an Asiana Airlines flight from South Korea to San Francisco crash landed upon arrival at SFO. The landing killed two, and left 181 with critical injuries.

In relation to the tech industry, Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg had booked a ticket on that very flight, but rescheduled it for a United Airlines flight at the same time. "I was on another flight from Korea at the exact same time,'' Sandberg said. "We are ok. My friend on that flight is ok, too."

"Thank you to everyone who is reaching out - and sorry if we worried anyone,'' she tweeted. And why did she switch flights? For a little thing called frequent flyer tickets. It looks like she got a lot more in return than a discount yesterday.

Samsung executive David Eun was actually on the flight that crashed, and he live-tweeted the aftermath: "I just crash landed at SFO,'' he said. "Tail ripped off. Most everyone seems fine. I'm ok. Surreal."

Our thoughts are with those who are suffering from the tragedy.
