This was a bad week for fire and buildings.

On Wednesday, a Chicago woman set her boyfriend's couch on fire, nearly burning the entire South Shore building down in the process. The fire forced residents to flee the four-story building and commanded the response 80 firefighters and emergency responders. According to fire officials, it took over an hour to control.

Six people, including one child, were hospitalized. Whitney Holmes, 27, was charged with aggravated arson and domestic battery. Whatever point she was trying to prove to the man has been lost on the fact that she nearly destroyed a building and killed several people. The only thing she proved is that she's out of her mind.
