Harold and Maude (1971)

Director: Hal Ashby
Stars: Bud Cort, Ruth Gordon, Vivian Pickles,

A friendship turned romance between a teenage boy and a 79-year-old woman? We’ve seen weirder. Okay, maybe not, but Harold and Maude, the film whose plot we’re talking about, has more than meets the eye. Really. Hal Ashby’s unorthodox coming of age movie shows a beautiful friendship blossom into love as Harold (Bud Cort) and Maude (Ruth Gordon) become closer as Maude teaches Harold about living life to the fullest while he tries to escape the mundane life his mother (Vivian Pickles) is planning for him. The two bond over their shared hobby of funeral attending and other run of the mill things like Harold’s affinity for suicide pranks. If you can’t get past the age difference, you’ll be missing out. In the words of Aaliyah, "Age ain’t nothin’ but a number." Debbie Encalada
