Ben Foster Will Play Lance Armstrong

But he's not the only one.

Ben Foster will bring his patented quiet intensity to the Tour de France. Deadline is reporting that the actor has been tapped to play Lance Armstrong in a biopic - with a script from Trainspotting's John Hodge - that will span Armstrong's battle with cancer to the notorious doping scandal.

These days in Hollywood however, one is never enough. There are two other studios currently pursuing plans to bring the Armstrong scandal to the silver screen, and given the pedigree of the producers attached, Foster's film is looking like the underdog. Warner Bros is developing a script with Jay Roach attached to direct, and with Game Change and Recount under his belt he's clearly a solid choice for the subject matter. Meanwhile, Bad Robot is taking a break from sci-fi and fantasy, adapting a screenplay from New York Times sportswriter Juliet Macur's Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong. Bradley Cooper is still rumored to be in talks with his old Alias boss J.J. Abrams for the part.

If each studio gets their way, 2014 will offer you three new opportunites to be disappointed by Lance all over again.
