Tragedy struck at a fireworks display in Simi Valley, Calif. last night, leaving 28 people injured. Around 9:20 p.m., an accidental detonation occurred at the Fireworks Extravaganza event where up to 10,000 people were present. Twenty people were hospitalized and treated for injuries, while another eight received treatment at the park, which is located about 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles. A bomb squad had to be called in to disarm the remaining fireworks.

In the 33 second clip above, the show seems routine until about the 9 second mark when a huge explosion is heard, followed by screams from the crowd. It resembles something ripped straight from a disaster movie. The park was evacuated and while police don't suspect foul play, they're still trying to determine what led to the accidental detonation.
