Starting tomorrow Yahoo will terminate Mail Classic, forcing users who have held out to finally switch over to the redesigned email platform (pictured above). There is a catch, however.
In Yahoo Mail's FAQ, under “Do I have to upgrade to the new Yahoo! Mail?” it notes: "When you upgrade, you will be accepting our Communications Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. This includes the acceptance of automated content scanning and analyzing of your communications content." Translation: Yahoo will now be reading your private emails.
"There are settings that allow users to restrict ads, but there's no way to stop Yahoo from monitoring email content for the purpose of data collection other than using an IMAP client or leaving Yahoo mail," reports Lily Hay Newman.
