Unless you've been living under a rock with no WiFi access since last night, you're already aware that Game of Thrones aired its most traumatic episode to date last night. Yes, more traumatic than the time Ned Stark died, and more shocking than the time Jaime Lannister lost his hand—and definitely more chilling than the flawless season two episode that featured the epic Battle of the Blackwater.
We won't sugarcoat what happened, so SPOILER ALERT in case you haven't yet seen the episode: Called the "Red Wedding" because it's so damn bloody, the episode featured Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, pregnant Talisa Stark, Grey Wind, and hundreds of other men being slaughtered during Edmure Tully's nuptials to Roslin Frey—the girl Robb was supposed to marry before he broke his promise and wedded Talisa instead. Turns out, Walder Frey, Roslin's father, didn't take so kindly to Robb breaking his word and making another woman queen, so he forms an alliance with the Lannisters to pull off the bloody mass murder. In the end, it was Lord Roose Bolton that stabbed Robb, and by extension, all of us viewers, in the heart.
Understandably, this left a lot of fans shocked, angry, and rocking back and forth in fetal positions, even those who knew it was coming because they read George R. R. Martin's book series ages ago. As with most major events of our time, they all took to Twitter to voice their outrage and frustrations—so many, in fact, that a Twitter called @RedWeddingTears has already popped up to compile all of the tweets in one feed. Here are 15 of our favorite picks, chosen while we all sobbed over our laptop keyboards because, seriously, why did they have to kill Grey Wind too?!
We will never get over this pain.
