The girl who was on the phone with Trayvon Martin shortly before he was killed by George Zimmerman took the stand in Zimmerman's murder trial yesterday, telling the jury that she heard Martin scream "Get off!" repeatedly before the phone call dropped. George Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder for fatally shooting the 17-year-old Martin in Sanford, Fla. last February.

Rachel Jeantel testified that Martin told her he was being followed by a man at the Retreat at Twin Lakes community. She says Martin told her some “creepy-ass cracker” was following him, but he thought he had escaped him. Jeantel also told the court that she heard Martin ask “What are you following me for?”

Two of Zimmerman's former neighbors also provided testimony, saying that they heard cries for help before the shooting occurred. Jayne Surdyka said she heard two voices: an aggressive voice speaking to a calm one. Jeannee Manalo recalled seeing what she believed to be Zimmerman on top of Martin.

If convicted, Zimmerman could face life in prison.
