Apparently being a genius is a crime in Wyoming.
A high school senior from Newcastle was disqualified from the International Science and Engineering Fair in May on a technicality. Why? Well, 18-year-old Conrad Fansworth, who is one of a handful of teens to successfully build a nuclear fusion reactor, had apparently entered too many science fairs.
The technicality seems a bit rash, especially given Fansworth's ingenuity.
“It’s frustrating having four years to get to a single point go down the drain,” Farnsworth said. “And it’s silly. It’s a science fair. Seriously, aren’t they supposed to be promoting science and not bureaucracy?”
