As you may have heard, New York City has launched a $4.5 billion project to construct the Second Avenue Subway station. Ninety years in the making, the initiative is the city's first line to be built since 1932 and will break up the already crowded subways on Manhattan's east side. The progress of the station, which is 110-feet tall and 75-feet wide, has been documented by Metropolitan Transportation Authority staff photographer Patrick Cashin.
