September 30 will mark the first ever Bloomberg Tech Summit. It will be co-hosted by New York City and San Francisco, the Los Angeles Times reports. NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and SF Mayor Edwin Lee met at Square's headquarters with CEO Jack Dorsey to divulge the details.

"The conference will bring together tech leaders, politicians and other assorted Internet types (cats?) to discuss how the cities can grow their tech economies while also tapping those same ideas to solve the host of social, economic and cultural problems plaguing both metropolises," Chris O'Brien reports.

The first session of BTS will be held in New York City—Lee lost the rock-paper-scissors decision to Bloomberg—with the following summit being held in San Francisco in "early" 2014.
