Microsoft will be investing in a new data center dubbed "Project Mountain" ahead of the Xbox One release.
While Microsoft's cloud business may be larger than Xbox Live alone, there has been concern over whether the server system will hold up to the rush of new users.
Currently Xbox LIve runs on 15,000 servers, with the construction of a new data center in Iowa that will be upped to nearly 300,000. Christian Belady of Microsoft explains to the Des Moines Register:
"The expansion supports the growing demand for Microsoft's cloud services," he said, it also represents "Our latest in efficient data center thinking."
This should sooth the nerves of gamers but with new multiplayer only titles like TitanFall on the horizon will the servers be able to handle it? Hopefully 300,000 will do the trick for Microsoft and the Xbox One.
