Let's face it: Thanks to their recent Hollywood remakes, iconic horror movie villains like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, and Michael Myers don't have the greatest of modern-day reputations, not unless you just stick with their original, undeniably classic films. Fortunately, though, the void they've left open has been gruesomely and entertainingly filled by Victor Crowley, the disfigured, undead brute who rips limbs apart in the independently made Hatchet franchise. Created by writer-director Adam Green, the fan-favorite series—beloved for its tongue-in-cheek humor and ridiculously grotesque kills—has amassed its own "Hatchet Army" of loyal, enthusiastic followers since the release of the 2006 original.

This Friday, Victor Crowley's back for more brutal offings in Hatchet III, written by Green and directed by first-timer BJ McDonnell (whose previous camera-operating credits include Killer Joe and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). Opening in limited theatrical release, and also available on Video On-Demand, Hatchet III stars scream queen extraordinaire Danielle Harris and features such imaginative kills as an unfortunate man's spine getting ripped out of his body through his stomach—what more could horror die-hards ask for?

Courtesy of Dark Sky Films, Complex has a whopping 10 new and exclusive Hatchet III images here to premiere, all of which you can check out by clicking through the above gallery. If those bloody, fiery stills have you in the mood for some wicked carnage, be sure to check out Hatchet III when it debuts in theaters this weekend. Victor Crowley will be pleased…and you don't want to piss that hideous monster off.
