The 50 Funniest Movies of All Time

47. Super Troopers (2001)

Director: Jay Chandrasekhar
Writer: Broken Lizard
Stars: Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, Brian Cox, Marisa Coughlan
Quotable: "Ain't so funny meow is it?"
Fun Fact: When Kevin Heffernan, as Farva, says "chicken fucker" in front of the older couple, those are actually his real-life parents.

There are a fair share of cop comedies out there, but Super Troopers may be the most underrated film in the mix. Despite not receiving great reviews from the critics, this ridiculously inappropriate film became a hit amongst general audiences, especially of the young adult variety (that is to say, the people who will inherit the Earth when the old people die).

In fact, it would be no surprise if Seth Rogen took some notes from the Spurbury, Vermont's corrupt law enforcement for his character in Superbad. While these State Troopers love to get themselves involved in syrup-related pranks, their jobs are suddenly at stake when the police department goes through some budget cuts. They are only semi-successful at getting their act together once they uncover a possible drug ring in their small suburban town.
