Director: Woody Allen
Writer: Woody Allen and Mickey Rose
Stars: Woody Allen, Louise Lasser, Carlos Montalban
Quotable: "I once stole a pornographic book that was printed in braille. I used to rub the dirty parts."
Fun Fact: Woody Allen's explanation for why he named the film Bananas: "Because there are no bananas in it."

Fielding Melvish, in Woody Allen's early feature Bananas, is one of the funniest characters the auteur has ever created. He's every single neurotic trait from all of Allen's more extreme characters rolled together into one man. He goes through some of the most absurd situations of any of Allen's characters. For example, becoming the dictator of a South American country i order to impress a social activist he's trying to bed, and having his sex life narrated by Howard Cosell. It makes for one of Allen's funniest, and most underrated, features.
